Política y Cultura es una publicación semestral del Departamento de Política y Cultura de la División de Ciencias Sociales de la Universidad Autónoma Metropolitana, Unidad Xochimilco, México, y forma parte de un proyecto académico departamental que se propone, entre otros, los siguientes objetivos: a) Difundir los productos de investigación de la División, siendo su calidad académica el único criterio rector. b) Fortalecer el trabajo académico, colectivo e individual. c) Participar en el debate en las ciencias sociales y las humanidades. d) Ser un proyecto colectivo que incentive, consolide y enriquezca la producción científica. e) Contribuir a un mejor conocimiento y a un análisis más profundo de la realidad social al ser un foro abierto a trabajos de excelente calidad. f) Difundir la utilización de las matemáticas en el estudio de las ciencias sociales y de las humanidades. g) Vincular a nuestro Departamento con otros centros educativos de nivel superior, nacionales y extranjeros, para favorecer la colaboración y el intercambio académicos, de manera que se amplíen los alcances de nuestro horizonte institucional. IDEA- A JOURNAL OF SOCIAL ISSUES

Is a peer-reviewed electronic journal created for the exchange of ideas related mainly, to cults, mass movements, autocratic power, war, genocide, democide, holocaust, and murder. Government killing in this century, what R.J. Rummel calls democide, has accounted for the deaths over over 150,000,000 people. Genocide, and democide have occurred all over the world throughout history. But this century's escalations require a closer attention. Is it possible to discover why men murder? Is it possible to discover why men commit mass murder? Some say it is not. The phrase "Never Again", inscribed on a monument at the concentration camp Dachau in Germany, seems more a hope than a possibility, especially because many genocides have occurred since WWII. Some say it is not possible to understand why men commit such acts. If this is so, then there is no hope of preventing them, because no lasting prevention is possible without understanding. Also the study of these issues can lead to understanding single murders and even milder forms of aggression. The dispensing of others exists on a continuum from telling a child to stand in the corner to committing genocide and democide. This journal aspires to make whatever small contribution to these issues is possible.

LA CALIFICACIÓN QUE YO LE DARÍA A LA REVISTA SERÍA UN TRES, YA QUE POR LO QUE SE VE TODAS LAS PUBLICACIONES ESTAN MUY BIEN RESPALDADAS, SIN EMBARGO AL SER TAN SERIA NO LE PONEN TANTO ÉNFASIS A LA CALIDAD DE LA PRESENTACIÓN.

Tourist in Mexico

Your article on the so-called dangers of Mexican vacations lacks the perspective needed to grasp the issue of the safety of Canadian tourists abroad, consequently rendering it not only uninformed, but tendentious ("Guns in the sun," National, June 4). Every year Mexico receives more than 21 million visitors from all over the world, roughly one million of whom come from Canada. Despite a few unfortunate incidents, most notably two in 2006 and two this year, they all return home safe and sound. While this is still a matter of deep concern among Mexico's government and society, these few cases should not be used to incite unfair judgments about a country that welcomes international tourists with open arms. Let us not forget the very unusual circumstances surrounding the untimely deaths of these four Canadian nationals. They have involved either the likely participation of international mafias or the immoderate consumption of alcohol and drugs, as the toxicological exams conducted in both Mexico and Canada have shown. None of them have been the result of a robbery or assault of any kind. It must also be made clear that in all four cases, local and federal authorities from both countries have co-operated thoroughly. Due to their bilateral nature, the solving of the pending cases takes time, but I can assure you that authorities from both countries have been working diligently on their respective lines of investigation.
The article also repeats figures on the number of Canadians "assaulted" abroad that should be broadened for further interpretation. Mexico is among the three destinations most visited by Canadian tourists. Mexico hosts as many Canadians as all the islands of the Caribbean and twice as many as all Asian countries. Furthermore, you would certainly agree with me that a destination becomes more or less dangerous depending not only on its general safety conditions but also on the behaviour of tourists. A reality must be faced and fought: tourists sometimes behave differently away from home. No place can guarantee safety for people willing to take incautious risks. Mexico offers many privileges, but expects some obligations: common sense, respect for local rules and customs and, above all, moderation. Mexico has indeed decided to crack down on organized crime once and for all. Combatting the problem will require time, resources and probably many human lives, but it is yielding positive results for the societies of the North American region in the fight against international crime and terrorism. So far this fight has not claimed any civilian's life. I find it highly unfair to Mexico to draw general conclusions from isolated events that could happen anywhere in the world. I find it petty and disappointing that poor-spirited interests are attempting to build a negative image of a nation that is friendly to Canadians and a strategic, economic and political partner for Canadian interests.

1) ¿Cuál fue el tema principal de la presentación?

Fue el entender el objetivo que tiene como tal el INEGI en cuanto a los conteos de la población y también explicaron el objetivo principal sobre los conteos que el INEGI realiza al país.

2) ¿Qué ofrece el INEGI para tu carrera en particular?

Para la carrera la cual estoy estudiando el INEGI de algún modo si por que así podremos saber cuánto turismo puede haber en el país o sacar de cierta manera un porcentaje.

3) ¿Qué relación encuentras entre la presentación y la materia?

Por lo poco que note en las diapositivas la relación que tienen fue lo de la explicación dentro de la presentación con la materia de lo que el INEGI no va a proporcionar.

4) ¿Cuáles son tus conclusiones?

Es interesante saber qué es lo que realiza el INEGI como una organización como tal y lo que yo creo que es que de algún modo si tiene alguna efectividad pero en general la verdad se me hizo muy interesante todo lo que hace el INEGI y todo el trabajo que pueden llegar a tener para llegar a tener una cifra más o menos exacta de la población.

Cultural Heritage Tourism along the Viking Trail: An Analysis of Tourist Brochures for Attractions on the Northern Peninsula of Newfoundland

The writers examine the function of various cultural heritage categories in the promotion of tourism in the Great Northern Peninsula of Newfoundland. They explore how tourist brochures take the archaeological evidence from a small, thousand-year-old Norse settlement and use it as a dominant part of the area's ethnic heritage in a strategic effort to attract tourists. The writers suggest that the portrayal of any cultural heritage is likely to be shaped not only by the actual existence of this heritage in an area but by current political sensitivities concerning how that cultural heritage can be depicted.

1) ¿Cuál fue el tema principal de la presentación?
El entender el objetivo del INEGI en relación a los conteos de población.El tema de la presentación fue explicarnos el objetivo principal sobre los conteos que realiza el INEGI dentro del país.

2) ¿Qué ofrece el INEGI para tu carrera en particular?

Para mi carrera el INEGI ofrece mucho, yo como relaciones Multiculturales tengo mucho que ver con el trabajo que ofrece el INEGI, ya que lo mio tiene mucho de sociología y este trabajo ofrece mucho sobre el aumento de población de la gente. También el aumento agrícola, económico, de población, etc.

3) ¿Qué relación encuentras entre la presentación y la materia?
Personalmente no puedo decir mucho sobre la presentación con la materia, por que no vi la presentacíon completamente, pero por las pocas diapositivas que vi la relación fue la explicación dentro de la presentación con la materia de lo que el INEGI nos proporciona.

4) ¿Cuáles son tus conclusiones?
Se me hizo muy interesante lo que realiza como organización, sin embargo aunque me lo explicaron si creo que debe tener algo de inefectividad. No logro entender como es que pueden llegar a tener datos casi exactos con una inexactitud de solo +-1, lo cuál no creo del todo. Pero en general se me hiso muy intresante y admirable el tipo de trabajo que se hace en el INEGI.

Don Busca

Don busca, se me hizo un buscador muy sencillo no tiene para búsqueda avanzada este buscador no tiene las mismas características que la otra ya que aquí solamente se podría hacer una búsqueda muy sencilla pero con elementos que tal vez no son lo que tu estas buscando o que contienen muy poca información, te aparecen muchas páginas o enlaces de lo que buscan. En la búsqueda que yo hice me salieron más de 20 páginas pero no pude hacer mas chica la búsqueda ya que no tiene esa aplicación. Este no me agrado mucho ya que no tiene muchas aplicaciones como en las otras y no podrás encontrar buena información.

Metacrawler

Metacrawler, se me hizo un buscador algo sencillo, tiene para videos, imágenes, noticias, yellow pages y White pages. Tiene para que hagas una búsqueda avanzada en la cual puedes buscar por la frase exacta, por algunas palabras, también puedes poner las palabras que no quieres que salgan, algo muy importante es que lo puedes en varios idiomas. En la búsqueda aproximadamente fueron 12 documentos obtenidos y con la calidad mucho mejor que en los demás buscadores.

CLUSTY

CLUSTY, Se me hizo un buscador simple, y más serio a comparación del otro búscador. Tiene campos de búsqueda más concretos y son más que otros buscadores; son diez y tiene opción como de GOV, labs, costumize, etc.
En mi opinión clusty se me hizo un buscador bastante completo, a la hora de buscar un tema, me enseña todos los resultados encontrados por imagines, descargas, etc; con palabras etiquetadas para el tema buscado.
El la búsqueda son aproximadamente 10 documentos obtenidos, pero con mejor calidad que otros buscadores.

DOGPILE

La página principal esta tan colorido que con los dibujos que aparecen parece una página de caricaturas, por lo que en mi opinión le quita seriedad al buscador.Y hay seis diferentes tipos de campos para buscar como son las imagenes, videos, noticias, "yellow pages" y "white pages". Al seleccionar algún tema para escoger en mi opinión es muy parecido al buscador BING o GOOGLE me da el TÍTULO de del documento, una descripción breve, donde aparece la palabra que busqué en negritas, y una descripción breve del documento.
Los docuementos obtendios por búsqueda son aproximadamente 20, con apróximadamente tres páginas más.
En mi punto de vista, los documentos obtenidos no son tan precisos como en otros buscadores, ya que vienen hasta en otro idioma, y también como propaganda pero no documentos de información precisa. Y los documentos que obtengo, también se repiten en la misma página de búsqueda
